An original hand colored print titled: Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Landwehr. 1813. It is Band XVIII, Plate 41, Uniformenkunde Gesamtverzeichnis no. 464, from the Uniformenkunde series of 1060 plates created by Richard Knotel to illustrate world uniforms from the 17th century to just prior to WWI.
NOTE: This is one of the plates drawn by Herbert Knotel (signed Knotel d. J. as Knotel der Jungere), Richard's son, who completed Band XVIII after his father's death in 1914.
The plate is from the original printing in approximately 1920 by Max Babenzien in Rathenow.
The condition is as shown in the product images which are photographs of the actual plate. The plate is in fair condition. There are several small tears along the edges and numerour pieces of mending tape have been attached to the edges on the back to prevent additional tears. The later plates of Band XVIII were printed after the war when good paper stock was hard to obtain and this plate was printed on lower quality paper which has become significantly discolored over time.
